  • Frescoes in Notre Dame (reinforced using light projection) and barely visible frescoes of the two archangels in the Jerusalem Chapel (originally part of a depiction of the ascension of St Mary)
History:
Late 12th cent.:   Construction of the chapel as a Christian “topping” of a pagan sanctuary
1520:   Separation of the chancel by Dean Mabon and re-dedication as “Jerusalem Chapel” in memory of the martyrdom of Christ; construction of the crypt symbolizing the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem
Late 18th cent.:   Inclusion of the building as “Prince’s Tower” in a medieval-style pleasure garden
1924:   Excavation of the dolmen “La Hougue Bie”
1927:   Building severely damaged
About 1935:   Re-dedication of the chapels by the Bishop of Winchester
10/03/1942:   Construction of a WW II bunker on the site started by the German occupation forces
